Pocatello makes it in the movies. In the movie "Bonneville", which the movie is entitled due to the make of the car in the movie. However, it's also ironic due to Bonneville is also the county in which I reside in Idaho and it is also the name of one of our lakes. Actually, Bonneville lake resides in mainly Utah but partially in Idaho too.
The movie Bonneville is written by a person that resides in Downey, a small town in Idaho. The movie is about three women, played by Jessica Lang, Joan Allen and Kathy Bates. They begin a road trip after Jessica Lang becomes a widow to take her husbands ashes from Pocatello to Santa Barbara.
Sounds familiar in a sense? Well, there may be some similarities to Thelma and Louise. In that they are driving an old convertible and that they do pick up a hunky hitch-hiker later on. However, nobody has a liaison with the hitchhiker. The movie does have it's doses of humor and it's little adventures. Along the way they learn more about life, love, one another and themselves.
It has amazing scenery and spectacular terrain of the west through the states of Idaho, Utah and Nevada. Lang, Allen and Bates are as usual very talented actresses in which they make you laugh and cry.
