Restaurant Review: BJ's Bayou

BJ's Bayou is located in Roberts Idaho. It's menu items are those with Cajun Flair.
We went there for the first time on our One Year Anniversary on August 1st. The outside of the building says nothing for the elegance you will find when you walk into the restaurant. It's fine white linens accented with glass goblets, matching cloth napkins and lace curtains are just an appetizer to the fine dining experience you will have. There is also a full bar for those who wish to indulge. Along with a nice variety of wines and Louisiana Bottled Beer.

Prices are very adequate, mostly beginning at $16.95 a plate and up. However the hamburger selection is a bit less. I regret to say I didn't peruse the exact prices on the burgers since I was there to eat a favorite I have missed for a long time--Alligator.

I chose the Alligator tails with oysters. You have a choice on the fried menu of mixing several selections (at varying prices). Or you can have the whole deal for just over $40.00 if you are wanting to try a bit of everything and share with a friend. I also had the gumbo which came with the meal and choice or fries or onion rings (with the fried food dish). I enjoyed the meal which also came with a moderately spicy version of cocktail sauce. Accompanied with a few spears of Asparagus. My husband enjoyed the Shrimp Creole, which I asked to be made at level one of the 1-10 spicy range due to he is not into heat. Dessert was Pecan Pie which was simply divine. I was only disappointed with the fact that they were out of Hush puppies that day and didn't make Sweet Potato Pie. Otherwise we enjoyed our dining experience immensely lingering there for nearly two hours.

There is also a selection of various hot sauces and T-shirts available for sale at the establishment. There are two alligators sunning in the front window to add to the Cajun experience. We plan to return again whenever we are nearby. It was definitely worth the special trip for our anniversary though.
